Settling In
New children join groups depending on their age and developmental stage. Before regular attendance at nursery, families are encouraged to visit us a few times to get to know nursery staff, discuss routines and personal preferences and agree the needs of each child.
As part of the settling-in process, children are encouraged to stay on their own for a short period at nursery to nurture independence. The number of settling-in visits depends on individual needs, and we aim to offer reassurance and support during this time.
Families can ring us as often as they wish to check on their child. Settling-in sessions are complimentary.
| | Partnership with Parents
We believe that children benefit most from nursery care when parents and the nursery work together in the best interests of the child.
We hope you will always find our nursery friendly and welcoming, and a place where you will feel comfortable to not only leave your child, but to share in, and contribute to, your child's experience while with us, in whatever way suits you best.
We operate an Open Door policy and families are welcome to talk to their child's key person, the manager or any staff member. We encourage exchange of information between families and the nursery on an ongoing basis.
Feedback on your child's progress will be given both informally day to day and in various parents' evenings during the year.

Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a statutory framework setting standards for learning, development and care for all children from birth to five years. Learning is by means of practical and personal experience, with children learning though play at their own pace and according to individual ability and interests. Children are encouraged to develop their own independence, establishing their own identity and learning though play to start to make decisions for themselves.
Activities take place both indoors and out - a varied selection of fun activities ranging from imaginative play, sand and water, table top toys, books, tactile play, painting, printing, cooking and gardening, singing, drama, dance and mime, music and healthy active play are all designed to support each individual child in their development.

| Outdoors
We have a wonderful outdoor environment which plays a very large part in the daily life of the nursery. The children spend lots of time in the gardens, and can venture further into the fields to take part in guided nature activities and play in the care of the nursery staff. We have gardens, a hard-surface area for play, and about 8 acres of fields surrounded by open countryside.
Meals and Snacks
A healthy and varied two-course lunch is cooked daily in our purpose built kitchen, and each week the menu is on display in reception. We try to encourage a homely and enjoyable experience at mealtimes. Tea is served during the afternoon session. Children can also bring picnic-boxes from home which we will store until the mealtime. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day and are included.
